Is echojs going to stick with Lamer News for the foreseeable future? (I think Lamer News is perfect and don't think the forum software should change, but i'm building some libraries and tools and would like to know if there are plans to move away from it. Hopefully not!)

A few of us really should get together and build an open platform better than Lamer News... and actually written in JS.

I personally have no problem with lamer news. I like that it's simple and I wouldn't suggest changing it. If there are plans to change it, i'd very much like to know as I'm building an app for echojs in my free time and i'm currently working on a TypeScript-Fetch client for LamerNews that i'll use in my app: https://github.com/badsyntax/lamernews-api-client

I wasn't trying to take away from the work that tracker1 and other have done to improve it but it seems hard to maintain and build on. It probably won't change, but I've started building another platform. Probably won't go anywhere but should be fun.

I haven't done anything myself... mostly moderate posts etc, and did get a docker/compose setup easier to get started with, but haven't had time to circle back around.

I'd been wanting to try taking the time to make an api compatible version in Node or Deno, only so it was in a language/platform I'd be better able to participate in future development/enhancement on.

Again, keeping the API the same, and the same database and data structures to start with. I'm no expert in lamernews... I only did enough so far to make it easy to spin up via a docker-compose.yml file and some minor changes to support environment variables for a couple config bits.
