Echo JS 0.11.0

It's obvious that the people running the site do not have the time / dedication to look after it. It wouldn't have been too hard to automatically bin all posts with 'blockchain' or 'chennai' in the title if they wanted to, for example.

EchoJS used to be my #1 source but now lags behind Reddit (where people actually discuss stuff) and Medium. Nothing gets posted here that doesn't get posted elsewhere.

TL;DR let's be honest, it's dying

I'm reading this site regularly for some years now, I never bothered to create an account tbh until today, because of this spam thing being discussed.

Personally I don't use this site for discussion. Its a sort of news feed that I like to follow to stay informed about javascript. The more discussion oriented platforms always distract from the actual article. I like that it is not the case at EchoJS. In the case of Reddit, I never quite understood the platform.

So I'm happy this is still around!

I was given moderator access when the site came back online... I especially do take notice when I see downvotes on articles. However, I do have a full time job, family and other things going on so I don't always catch it all. I can't speak for the other guys, but I do try to check a couple times a day.

I also make an effort to comment a few times a day as well. I don't think most people are using this site for comments so much as a news feed. I realize reddit does have more discussion, but I don't think it always works as well as a direct feed.

I don't think it's dying so much as it really never had a strong following with people that would otherwise comment. I really do appreciate this site/feed as it does show a lot of relevant content that isn't so overloaded and is more specialized than hacker news.

> However, I do have a full time job,

Totally understandable, and thanks for dedicating your free time to this. It wasn't criticism of the mods, obviously. Just a cold, engineering look at what is going on (from my point of view). To me there are only two ways to approach this: more mods, and / or automodding. Neither seems likely, so I don't see myself coming here much longer. But I am sure there will be plenty other users interested in what the site has to offer!

Yea, block things with 'blockchain' or 'coin'.

There have never been any real discussions on echo, but a great way to see some news.

I have also started using reddit, so I am not so often on echoJS anymore, but when it closed down earlier this year, people was using it regularly.

Been here almost 6 years; :D
