Express is now maintained by Doug Wilson who is the author of numerous modules including the excellent mysql driver for node. There are other maintainers listed as well.
This is a sweet wrapper around the classic netpbm utilities. These can convert even very large images without pulling every pixel into memory. The code manages multiple Unix pipelines in the background and has throttling features to avoid overloading the CPU with many requests. A thorough test suite is included.
