I look at Hacker News too. But many articles here never get exposure on HN.

discussions here would definitely help improve engagement with the site, and like others have mentioned, JS links don't generally pop to the top in HN.

That's a good point. I'm actually pretty active on HN and it's true that most JS submissions get a lot of comments.
